If you only ever learn one number, learn this one. The Life Path Number is worked out from your complete date of birth, which means it was fixed the moment you were born and it never changes. In Indian numerology it is called the Bhagyank. Some western books call it the Destiny Number.
It does not describe your mood or your job title. It describes the road. How to calculate your Life Path Number
You are adding every digit of your date of birth together, then adding again until one digit is left.

- Add them: 5 + 3 + 1 = 9

If at any point you land on 11, 22 or 33, stop there. Those are master numbers and most numerologists leave them whole rather than reducing them.
Why the Life Path Number matters more than the rest
Your other numbers describe pieces of you. Your Name Number describes how you come across. Your Soul Urge describes what you want in private. Your Birth Number describes your first reaction to things. The Life Path is bigger than any of them because it describes the whole arc.
Think of it this way. Your Birth Number is what you do on a Tuesday. Your Life Path is what you will have done by the time you are seventy. When people say a reading felt uncomfortably accurate, it is usually the Life Path they are reacting to.
What it can and cannot tell you

Can my Life Path Number change?
No. It comes from your date of birth, which is fixed. Your Name Number can change if you legally change your name, but your Life Path stays the same for life.
What if I get 11, 22 or 33?
Keep it as it is. These are master numbers and they carry a stronger, more demanding version of the single digit behind them. An 11 behaves like a heightened 2, a 22 like a heightened 4 and a 33 like a heightened 6.
Is the Life Path Number the same as the Destiny Number?
In most Indian numerology writing, yes. The Bhagyank is often translated as either Life Path or Destiny. Some western systems use Destiny Number for the value of your full name instead, so check which method a source is using before comparing results.
Do I need my birth time?
No. Numerology only needs the date. Birth time matters in astrology, not here, so an uncertain time is not a problem.
