Bridge Number

The gap between two of your core numbers, read as a set of instructions for getting them to work together.

Most numerology readings hand you a list of numbers and leave you to work out how they interact. Bridge Numbers fill that gap. A bridge is simply the difference between two of your numbers, and the difference turns out to carry real information.

When your Life Path and your Name Number are close, the two pull in roughly the same direction and life feels coherent. When they are far apart, you get the specific tiredness that comes from wanting one thing and being built for another. The bridge names the distance and suggests what closes it.

How to calculate your Bridge Number

Subtract the smaller number from the larger one.

  1. 1

Take two of your core numbers, for example your Life Path and your Name Number.

  2. 2

Subtract the smaller from the larger.

  3. 3

The result is the bridge between them.

  4. 4

A bridge of 0 means the two numbers match and no bridging is needed.

Example

  • Life Path: 8
  • Name Number: 3
  • 8 minus 3 = 5

Bridge Number 5

The three bridges in the app

The Life Improvement bridge connects your Life Path Number to your Name Number. It is the main one, and it deals with the gap between where life is taking you and the energy you carry.

The Natural bridge connects your Soul Urge to your Personality Number. It deals with the gap between what you want and how you come across, which is the source of most feeling misunderstood.

The Challenge bridge connects your Birth Number to your Life Path Number. It deals with the gap between instinct and direction, which is the one that gets louder in midlife.

A bridge of zero

If two numbers are identical, there is nothing to bridge. That sounds ideal and mostly is, but it has a cost: no tension means no stretch. People with several matching numbers tend to be very consistent and slightly narrow.

Questions about the Bridge Number

  • Is a large bridge bad?

No, it is just more work. A wide bridge usually produces more range in a person, because they have had to develop both sides. It costs more energy in the short term and gives more capability in the long term.
