Life Path Number Calculator

Your Life Path Number is every digit of your full date of birth added together and reduced to a single digit. It describes the overall direction of your life, and numerologists treat it as the most important number in a chart.

How the Life Path is calculated

  1. 1

Write your date of birth in full, day, month and four-digit year.

  2. 2

    Add every digit together.

  3. 3

If the total has two digits, add those together, and repeat until one digit is left.

  4. 4

If the total passes through 11, 22 or 33 on the way, note it: that is a master number.

Example for 5 March 1990

  • Day: 5 stays 5
  • Month: 3 stays 3
  • Year: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19, and 1 + 9 = 10, and 1 + 0 = 1
  • Add them: 5 + 3 + 1 = 9

Questions

  • Is the Life Path Number the same as Bhagyank or Destiny Number?

Yes. Bhagyank is the name used in Indian numerology, and some books call it the Destiny Number. All three are the full date of birth reduced to one digit.

  • Why does the calculator show 2 when my date adds up to 11?

The app's Life Path reading uses a number from 1 to 9, and this calculator gives the same result. When your date passes through 11, 22 or 33 on the way down, it is noted as a master number: an 11 behaves like a heightened 2, a 22 like a heightened 4 and a 33 like a heightened 6.

  • Does the order I add the digits in change the result?

No. Adding all the digits at once or adding day, month and year separately first reaches the same single digit. Only the master numbers you pass on the way can differ, which is why the calculator shows its working.
